About Us

ABOUT US

We support one another, to share the highs and lows of life. We foster a spirit of friendship and community.

We are 18,594 km or 11,554 miles away from home, which can be daunting at the best of times. Then add pregnancy and kids into the mix, and it can all get a bit stressful.

We are a group of Irish immigrants living in New Zealand. Some of us are mothers to kids, mothers to fur babies, some of us are soon to be mothers or still just thinking about it, we are the organisers, supporters and the bringers of Craic to fellow NZ Irish who may need a touch of home to make it seem not so far away.

We registered as a Charitable Trust in September 2021 to enable better support for our members.

Away from home, but never alone.

A place of Support for one another, to share the highs and lows of life and bringing-up (an immigrant) family in New Zealand, a place to have the Craic, share new/not so new baby photos, ask for travel, holiday and sometimes more serious advice (none legal of course!!).

Irish Mammies provide a physical connection with fellow Irish Mammies navigating similar journeys and obstacles and also provides a connection through social medial which is available any time of day or night.

Support is expressed in lots of different ways - a shared cuppa and chat, a cleaning or baking bee, fundraisers, sometimes just raising awareness of an issue is enough, signposting to helpful and appropriate organisations that can provide formal care/support is often offered by members.

The Irish Mammies enhance cultural connection and wellbeing of the Irish mammy in general!. There’s no cost, obligation or expectation when joining, some Mammies dip in and out, while others are there most days, whether looking for the Craic or some advice!
